When Times get Tough
When Times get Tough
We live in a society that is fixated on unhealthy ideals, such as obtaining the most money or getting that cute, yet completely emotionally unavailable man working under the hood of your car. These all seem like harmless goals in life, and since these little endeavors provide the most instant since of gratification; we seem them as the only goals within our reach. Yet, once again, we're wrong! But don't worry about it; it is human nature to seek the temporary fruits of life... since, you know, they are what cast off those little droughts of unhappiness we all seem to go through.
It's high time we stop caring what the others have, or who got that brand new pair of shoes you saw and Nordstrom’s, and start focusing on ourselves. After all, before we make others happy we need to make ourselves happy first.
Have you ever asked yourself what you're good at? Sit down and ask yourself the following questions:
1. What am I good at?
2. Where do I fail?
3. What do I think of myself?
4. What, that is within my reach, can I improve on?
I hope you come up with some good answers. You see, before we can begin building strong, healthy relationships with friends and family, our knowledge of ourselves is the most important thing. Eventually, if we have no knowledge of where we fail or where we succeed we roam life completely directionless, simply blowing with the breeze and never finding healthy convictions. So, ladies, I challenge you - climb that mountain you've been putting off, go on a walk through the woods, and simply challenge your will against the world - test yourself! See where your boundaries lie.
Plus, maybe on Saturday evening when you're having tea with the ladies you'll have an interesting anecdote to share.
